The State of My Union and My Busted Balls

So, I broke my balls yesterday evening.

Actually I broke only three of my balls.

We put up the Christmas tree last night. I managed to break three ornaments ( I call them Christmas balls and that sends Lizz into a fit of giggles. ) but we still have a bazillion quazillion left. I let her do most of it and didn’t even re-arrange it much ( OCpD tells me you do the gold balls first, then the red, the crystals then…etc. I’m a pain in the ass. ). I did put the finishing touches of the red bows on, though, because my obsessive compulsive nature got the best of me. I was nice about it, though. I made her hot chocolate and put on Dean Martin Christmas tunes.

As I’ve said in earlier posts, I LOVE everything about Christmas. It brings up so many fuzzy, warm feelings of Grace and Blessings. We have many failings and short-comings as humans but I still believe that somewhere in most of us is a child unscathed from all the greed and selfishness of adulthood. We try hard, and succeed, at harming others to place ourselves first in line. I think we can put this aside if we choose and Christmas is the reminder.

There in lies the rub; choosing to do so.

Perhaps one of my biggest character defects is in not being realistic about people, I’ve been told that very thing; but I just can’t seem to get rid of that belief. The down side of this sense of altruistic goodness is disappointment and it’s a hard-line for other people to tow. The burden is heavy and I’m sorry I do that to people. We are all fallible and we are perfectly imperfect.

My goal this Christmas is to take my own advice and be gentle with people and allow them their humaness.

Hey…maybe that will spread to my expectations of myself?

Maybe…

Soooo…I thought I’d share our little tree with you all:

The State of My Union

  • Mood: Hopeful
  • Whats my body doing?: Awesome, only at a Tylenol pain level.
  • Whats on my mind?: Christmas time is so wonderful
  • Band Restriction: Good
  • Eating: Pretty friggin’ good.
  • Water: Four ten ounce glasses
  • Net Carbs: 28.5 g
  • Glycemic Load: None higher than 8, most under 4
  • Exercise: Only .25 mile

Lizz has “Elf” playing, which is one of my favorite flicks, but especially so at Christmas, so I’m gonna’ go watch it.

Oh, and I will try not to bust my balls any more.

Love the ‘perfectly imperfect’ part, just remember we’re all unique, like everyone else. Perfect or not.
